    What Is the Navamsa Chart?

The Navamsa (D-9) is the most important divisional chart in Vedic astrology after the Rasi (D-1). The word "Navamsa" means "ninth division" — each zodiac sign of 30° is split into nine equal parts of 3°20' each, and every planet is placed into the sign that governs its particular ninth slice.

While the Rasi chart shows the broad landscape of your life, the Navamsa zooms in on the soul-level quality of each planet. Astrologers use it to assess marriage compatibility, the true dignity of planets, and the spiritual direction of a native's life.

    How It Is Computed

AstroAsk calculates the Navamsa using its proprietary calculation engine, ensuring high precision by mapping out the precise Rasi chart from your birth data. The engine then divides each planet's sidereal longitude by 3.333° to determine its exact Navamsa sign and house placement.

The result includes each planet's Navamsa sign, sign name, house number, and exact longitude — delivering the raw, precise astronomical data an astrologer relies on.

    How to Read the Output

    • Navamsa Sign: The zodiac sign a planet falls into in the D-9 chart. A planet in its own Navamsa sign (Vargottama) is considered exceptionally strong.
    • Navamsa House: The house placement in the D-9 chart. The 7th house is especially important for marriage analysis.
    • Longitude: The precise sidereal longitude used for the division, useful for verifying calculations manually.

Look for planets that improve their dignity from Rasi to Navamsa — a debilitated planet in D-1 that lands in its own or exalted sign in D-9 gains "Neecha Bhanga" (cancellation of debilitation), a powerful corrective factor.
